STANDARD SIX: External Development Leadership
A school executive will design structures and processes that result in community engagement, support, and ownership. Acknowledging that schools no longer reflect but in fact build community, the leader proactively creates with staff opportunities for parents, community and business representatives to participate as “stockholders” in the school such that continued investments of resources and good will are not left to chance.

Standard 6A Reflection: Of all our stakeholders, our parents invlovement and support is needed to improve academic success of our students. Many of our parentsof unable to be active members of the Parent Teacher Organization due to transportation, childcare, and for some not having good experiences themselves with school. I created a survey in which to use quarterly to ask parents what is working, what is not working, what resources do they need to help support their child at home or at school. These surveys were provided at Title I Parent Nights and then sent home to parents who were unable to attend. This allowed all parents to have a voice. The information was used in School Improvement Team Meetings to discuss and make plans of improvement for our school.
B. Federal, State and District Mandates: The school executive Designs executive protocols and processes in order to comply with federal, state and district mandates.
Standard 6B Reflection: The administrative team worked together to come up with an intervention plan as requested by the district to ensure growth in all subgroups. We brainstormed all current resources available and professional development needed to support staff to carry out the proposed plan. The plan was then shared with the School Improvement Team and the master schedule was changed to allow time for a staff to provide research-based interventions at the same time everyday, as stated in the intervention plan.
